Thursday Night’s Made For Bowling

Posted in bowling on April 11th, 2008 by equk

Last night was an amazing night for bowling for me as I was playing one of my instructors. I was really up for the game after missing out last weeks games due to having tonsillitis.
With it being one of the instructors, I was obviously a bit nervous but really tried to keep calm and tried to keep hold of my mental emotional state.
After winning the first two matches and getting 224 on the second I was really hyped up and everyone was coming over to congratulate me on the games.
As I started the third game, it all seemed to get messed up as I forced the ball and got the 10pin on the first shot and both of the opening frames ended up being open scoring 8 and 9.
Another instructor told me to calm down etc which helped a lot. I never really got the momentum or fluidity I had in the second game back, Altho I bowled 4 strikes in a row, it just didn't feel the same and resulted in me forcing the ball too often.

The end scratch score was: 170 224 178

Storm Xtra-Hook Update

Posted in bowling on February 20th, 2008 by equk

I played in the league last night with the Storm Xtra-Hook wrist support and it was really wierd at first. The second ball I threw with it was a strike.

I was amazed at the hook I was getting from the ball while using it and had to change my bowling line dramatically, meaning I had to play across the lane more.
This is what I was expecting from the new ball, the only problem I had was hitting 10-pin spares due to the hook. It had definately made a difference to the way I bowl, I am bowling a lot more slower, but seem to have a lot more accuracy aswell as more hook (which was what I was hoping for).

I've been bowling a lot better since getting my new ball, I seem to have a problem with gripping the ball with my fingers, So my follow-thru isn't what it could be and I obviously lose revolutions on the ball.

I spoke to one of the instructors I go to and he suggested getting a new wrist support with finger support as it should stop me from gripping the ball aswell as helping with my release and keeping my hand straight. After reading an article on wrist supports on talktenpin I decided it could be a good investment.

I've yet to test it, but here it is (Storm Xtra-Hook + ProBowl Wristgaurd):

New Bowling Ball

Posted in bowling on January 26th, 2008 by equk

After recieving some awards for bowling and finding my old ball wasn't really hooking much on heavy oil, I decided to go for a new bowling ball.

I ended up going for a Storm Paradigm Domination from Steve Thornton who is in team England for tenpin bowling.

After cleaning the ball, the writing became glittery aswell. Was white in above images as the ball had been resurfaced.
